Union Government raised quota of subsidised LPG cylinders to 12

Union Government raised the quota of subsidised LPG cylinders to 12 cylinders per household in a year on 30 January 2014.The hike will be effective from April 2014. Union government had also decided to put on hold linking the Aadhaar platform to the Direct Benefit Transfer of LPG (DBTL) scheme.
However, households will be entitled to get one cylinder extra, beyond the quota of nine cylinders, in February 2014 and March 2014. One cylinder will be given to a consumer every month. The hiked subsidised LPG quota will cost 5000 crore rupees more in subsidy to the exchequer annually. 99 crore people will be benefitted from the hike.
Under the DBTL scheme, consumers in as many as 289 districts in 18 states were getting the subsidy amount directly credited to their bank accounts.
