DRDO is developing Unmanned Arial Vehicles for CRPF to track down Maoists

Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) on 7 February 2014
said that it is in the process of developing Unmanned Arial Vehicles (UAVs) to track down Maoists in naxal hit states including Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. The vehicles will be used by the Central Reserve Police Force to track the locations of the Maoists in even the forests. DRDO also said that demonstrate of the first such vehicles operational capability will be done in a couple of months. This information was given by Avinash Chader, the chief of DRDO in the occasion of Defence Expo-2014 in New Delhi.
Unmanned systems and futuristic war machines are the main highlights of the expo that will end on 9 February 2014. The event started on 6 February 2014 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. It is the 8th Land, Naval and Internal Homeland Security Systems Exhibition of the Ministry of Defence.
Defence Exhibition Organisation (DEO)
DEO was created as a nodal agency in 1981 as part of the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence to promote and export potential of Defence Public Sector Undertakings, DRDO and the Ordnance Factory Board. Since creation it has contributed in export promotion activities on behalf of the Ministry of Defence. It is the nodal and co-ordination agency for the conduct of two major expositions in India, like Aero India and Defexpo India that has seen exponential growth over the years.
Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO)
Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) works under Department of Defence Research and Development of Ministry of Defence. It works towards enhancing self-reliance in Defence Systems and undertakes design & development leading to production of world class weapon systems and equipment in accordance with the expressed needs and the qualitative requirements that is laid down by the three services. DRDO is working in various areas of military technology which include aeronautics, armaments, combat vehicles, electronics, instrumentation engineering systems, missiles, materials, naval systems, advanced computing, simulation and life sciences.
DRDO Awards
The scheme of DRDO awards was introduced in 1999 in its present form to motivate scientists, engineers and its partners of DRDO for contributions made for the cause of national security. The Scheme consists of a total of 17 awards, out of which, 4 awards are given by the Directors of the concerned laboratories/establishments in recognition of outstanding contributions of their scientists and other supporting staff consisting of technical, administrative and allied cadres.
