National Cadet Corps (NCC) will soon set up
four training academies in
Rajasthan with
the aim to provide all required facilities to its cadets at one place.
"All facilities for training will be
provided at one place. The academies will have parade ground, accommodation
facilities, obstacle training and other required amenities so that cadets can
get proper training," Director
General of NCC Lt Gen Aniruddha Chakravarty said in Jaipur on Friday. The facilities would come up in Udaipur, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Kota or Alwar,
he said.
Land for the Udaipur facility had been
identified and the existing NCC complex in Jaipur would be converted into an
academy, Lt Gen Chakravarty said, adding that the Rajasthan government had
allocated fund for the centres.
He said the NCC would strengthen its flying
activities for that 110 microlight aircraft would be procured. "The procurement process is to be carried
out by the Air Force and it would be completed by next year. After that NCC
units would get the aircraft as per requirements," he said. Lt Gen
Chakravarty said the NCC "has a target to raise the strength of its cadets
to 15 lakh by 2015-16".
